12-31-12

7:50am

Started getting a migraine with blurry vision.
I was looking out the window this morning
and couldn't resist getting a photo of the sunrise this morning.
It didn't last long with the clouds obstructing
the beautiful and bright red colors in the sky.

Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning.
A red sunrise reflects the dust particles of a system that has just passed from the west. This indicates that a storm system may be moving to the east. If the morning sky is a deep fiery red, it means a high water content in the atmosphere. So, rain (snow) is on its way.
9:20pm

Got breakfast made of egg & cheese sandwiches,
hung up a load of laundry, got laundry going
in washer and dryer,
took a pork tenderloin out of freezer to thaw for tomorrow,
got ingredients set out to make a couple
of pumpkin cheesecakes,
and lastly I put a turkey breast in an oven
bag and have it baking.

My New Year's Resolution-

To pay off outstanding debts,
save more money, build up the saving's account,
and just try to get back on track.
We've been derailed for a couple of years now.
It has been unavoidable because of
doctor, hospital and prescription bills
and the rising cost of living but not rising cost of pay.

10:05am

Getting ready to work on my double layer
Pumpkin Cheesecake.
Usually when I make this I bake both layers
of pumpkin and cheesecake at once.
But this time around I am using a boxed
cheesecake mix so will do a layer with
baked pumpkin pie, allow to cool,
then put the cheesecake filling on top and put in fridge.

10:30am

Now how am I supposed to get any work done, lol.

11:30am

Last load of laundry in the washer.
Got 2 pumpkin pies in the oven baking and about done.
And, I put a pork tenderloin in the crock
with a can of sauerkraut, brown sugar and
topped it with a packet of pork seasoning.
It's smelling sooo good in here!

1:00pm

Turkey breast is done and out of the oven.
Also got the cheesecake made up and
put on top of the pumpkin pies.
I added some maple flavoring to the cheesecake.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie recipe
My tweaks was that I added a couple teaspoons
of pumpkin pie spice instead of the ginger and nutmeg
and a couple teaspoons of cinnamon.
I also baked it in a graham cracker crust.

The boxed cheesecake mix I got at Aldi.

 6:30pm

I am really starting to hate snow.
It seems like the more you shovel the more
it likes to keep covering the walk and driveway.
The worst part is the layer of ice underneath.
Now my whole midsection from back to hips to tailbone
is all aching!   And by looking at the security cameras
it looks like it is snowing again!   AHHHH!

Time for some pie after all the shoveling!

I was so tired earlier that I crashed on the couch watching tv.
I think it had something to do with grubbing
on turkey most of the day, lol.

Mom ordered us a late Christmas present today from HSN.
Not long ago she had bought a microfleece sheet set
off HSN and they were so soft.  Great to have during
those cold Winter nights.  They have the feel
of a fleece sweater, jacket or scarf!  She asked if I would like a set
back when she got hers.  She's been waiting for them
to come back on HSN.  They haven't made a second
appearance so she called and asked if they still had them.
They should be here January 10th.  Can't wait.
I may never get out of bed again, lol.
They said they didn't have any more of the solid colors
but had a green and white medallion print
and a brown and white medallion print.
I'm getting the brown print.
I don't know where these prints came from
because they are not offered on the website.
They are $39.95 for a complete set
of flat sheet, fitted sheet and 2 pillow cases.

12-30-12

10:55am

Breakfast this morning was homemade
chocolate and peanut butter waffles
with chocolate and peanut chunks in them.

I didn't feel too bad this morning after everything
I did yesterday.  My back was a little stiff.
As long as I keep the tylenol going in me it's tolerable.

I am currently working on ideas for hubby's flag
he has to do for work.
It's a 3' x 5' plain white flag.
It has to do with racing and the company name that is why they
gave the flag to hubby to design (more like wifey lol).
The corporate office in North Carolina is having a
convention of some sort and all their properties
in the US is to make one of these flags and send it to them.
Now remember they are in the top 10
of rental properties in the entire US to tell you
how big a company this is.
I have a design I want to do but don't know
how to get it on the flag or what to color it with.
Do I use paint, spray paint, markers which could bleed
and take a lot of, I haven't a clue.
The flag needs to be able to be folded up
and shipped.
My hands are having a hard time right now
with just drawing designs.  I have carpal tunnel
and to grasp small things like a pencils
makes them cramp up, tingle, hurt and fall asleep.
This ought to be fun and interesting to do!
I think it's due by January 4th.  Ahhhh!

We still have to pick up the flag from his work.
Hubby said it's a 3' x 5' flag!
So to get an idea and to start drawing out
the design and making some stencils
I went ahead and pieced together 3 poster
boards in that size.  That is a huge flag if you ask me to design.
Then he tells me this flag will be entered into
a contest for all the properties!
No pressure here, ahhhhh!

Here's the size of the flag

12:05pm

My one son who got a paintball son for Christmas
and hubby went outside to see what it would
feel like to get hit with paintballs.
They are wanting to go to Splatter Park this
upcoming year.   They can't be afraid to
be hit with paintballs!  It costs $50 per person to go there!
That includes eating lunch, 2 tank refills and 2,000 paintballs.
My son is wearing an actual paintball protective mask
over his face and an actual paintball padded shirt.

See the yellow splatter on his pants.
I think he's gonna need a cup, lol.

2:00pm

Got out of the house a bit and went and picked
up the flag from hubby's work.
I guess we don't have to put the design on the flag.
All I have to do is make a design for it.
I don't know if they will take it to a screening
place to put it on the flag or what.
Whew, glad I don't have to worry about that!
Now to draw the design.

About collided with a city plow on the
way over to hubby's work.
Had the truck standing on its nose about!
I could hear my tires screeching to a halt
and my heart flopping to the floor board.
Was going full speed down the biggest hill
on Cooke Rd when the plow comes out of
one of those roads at the bottom of the hills.
She went left of center when pulling out
onto Cooke Rd. and all I saw was this
big ass snow blade in my lane!
She could of waited for me to pass because
no one was behind me.
I had another incident another time on those
hills where I was cresting the last big hill and
over it in the other direction came a huge firetruck full speed.
Saw my life flash in front of me that day.
I had the truck driving it along the berm scuffing
the sides into the trees overhanging the road
to keep from hitting that thing.

On our way home we did some sight seeing
and got more pictures of the snow.

WALHALLA

OVERBROOK

5:30pm

I got a sweet tooth so used up some leftover
pillsbury cookie dough and added some
thin mints to the middles once baked and fresh
out of the oven.  The thin mints were marked
down at Kroger and was part of the after Christmas sale.

12-29-12

10:30am

Looks like we got more snow this morning than we did
Wednesday.  They said we had more snow
the last couple of day than we did all last year.

I've been working on my vegetable soup
throwing leftovers and whatever I could find in it.
Carrots, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms,
broccoli, cauliflower, celery, corn, tomatoes,
peas, deer burger and pasta shells.
It made a ton of soup.
I'm gonna call it my Cold Killer Soup, lol.
Not that we have any colds at the moment
but it's loaded with vitamins.

4:00pm

I think we're set on meals around here for
a week or more, lol.
Mom even brought over a ham loaf and fried taters.
She's been playing with her Oster Kitchen Center
I got her for Christmas, lol.
My friend brought over a box filled with
8 boxes of cereal, 2 boxes of Triscuits and a bag of rice!

This is what is in my fridge that I made yesterday and today.
Eight and a half meals worth!

2.5 bowls veggie pasta soup
2 bowls ham and bean soup
1 bowl chili (we had another bowl of it for supper yesterday)
1 bowl ham & potato soup (we had another bowl today for lunch)

Went sledding today around noon to 1:30pm.
I also sledded and did a snowboard!
I know I'm gonna pay the price this evening for that.

SHARON WOODS WESTERVILLE

ALUM CREEK PARK WESTERVILLE

Hubby shoveled the driveway and I shoveled the front
sidewalks.  Shoulders are a little sore now.
Oh well, it needed done.

Went to Kroger for some basic things.

Milk.
2 loaves of bread.

Pop-
 I had .55 cents off 3 Kroger Big K 2 liters.

They also have a sale on Sierra Mist 2 liters.
If you buy 4 you get two free which averages
out to $1.00 a 2 liter.  Next to the pop is
blinkie coupons for $1.00 off a 2 liter of Sierra Mist.
Use four of those coupons.
$6.00 for 6 bottles minus $4 in coupons
makes it $2.00 for 2 two liter bottles of Sierra Mist
or .33 cents each.

Eggs.  I had a coupon good for free Kroger eggs.

8 cans Red Gold Tomatoes.
Reg. $1.19 a can.  Sale price .59 cents a can.
There is a blinkie coupon machine next to them
with coupons for $1.00 off 2.
Buy 2 for $1.18 minus $1.00 coupon
makes it .18 cents for 2 cans or .09 cents a can.

5 pound bag of wheat flour was found
in the mark down bin for $1.38.

10:50pm

Channel 10TV says we got 5.1 inches of snow today
and it still appears to be snowing outside.
We got something like 4.5 inches Wednesday.
Plus who knows how much sleet & freezing rain.

12-28-12

10:50am

Took down the Christmas tree and decorations
and started getting the living room back to normal.

Took the broth from cooking my ham bone overnight
in the crock and put it in the ham and bean soup.
Got it cooling and will getting it put into bowls
for the freezer and fridge.

The potato soup is all done, cooled and dished up into
two large butter bowls and put into the fridge/freezer.

The chili is all done and will be used for
supper and lunch today.

I already got started on another crock
with deer burger and a can of diced tomatoes with liquid.
This will be used for a pasta, burger & vegetable soup.
I had some leftover vegetables from
a veggie tray at Christmas and didn't want
them to go to waste.  I'll throw in some canned
vegetables as well.

2:00pm

The sun is shining so that means today
I had the solar heater fan running for some free heat!
The temperatures inside the solar heater is reading
175 degrees!  There's about 4 or so inches of
snow on the ground with a couple more inches of ice underneath.
It's 32 degrees outside with a wind chill of 28 degrees.
So yeah, I think it's working quite well!
Camera battery is on charge today so no
pictures at the moment.

Took the rest of my ham broth and mixed with
some water and have some shell pasta going
for the veggie soup.
The deer burger and tomatoes are done
in the crock and I stirred in
a packet of Amazing pork seasoning.
That stuff is pretty good.  It gives it a grilled flavoring.
Next I'll drain the water from the pasta
and use the same water to boil fresh veggies in.
Then mix all together once done to make the soup.

4:30pm

We FINALLY got a battery for hubby's car.
It's been needing one for a long time now.
We found a 3 year battery at Interstate Battery for $39.
Put it on the cc as I don't have extra money right
now for things like that.  Scraping by right now.

5:30pm

Took Christmas tree and decorations to the basement
and got a load of laundry started.
Put all my crock pot meals away and at
chili for supper which turned out yummy!
Had with round ritz type crackers, salt, pepper and hot sauce.
It was just something thrown together with things in the pantry.
1 pound deer burger
1 can diced tomatoes with juice
1 can tomato soup
1/4 bottle bbq sauce
red kidney beans
1 can chili beans and sauce
1/2 packet Amazing chili seasoning

Getting tired.
I let hubby sleep in this morning being it's
his vacation.  During that time I was working
on tearing the living room apart
and taking the decorations down.
And have been going full speed after that
with cooking and cleaning.

Might go lay down for a few.

9:45pm

Why do I have to deal with this pain every day?!
Some days worse than others.
I laid down for a little bit til mom called.
After that my body has been aching so bad.
Can't sit or stand still.  Look like a person in
a mental institution rocking back and forth
in my chair because of the pain.
Doesn't matter what I do I get no relief.
Hoping the tylenol kicks in very soon!
I hate when I get like this.
Can't sit still and look like I've got ants in my pants.
It's not like you can rub it to ease the pain,
can't stretch the muscles out, can't sit a certain way
....nothing!
Just constant throbbing pain all over my body.
So it's gonna be a rough night trying to sleep
unless the tylenol kicks in.

12-27-12

3:15pm

The in-laws came over and we had our Christmas with them
around noon.

They gave the kids each a dvd,
tony a fleece jacket and fleece pj bottoms,
me a shirt and iron teddy bear pan.
And then a huge turkey breast and a bag of food-
-2 bags noodles
-2 spaghetti
-2 bags rice
-bag of potatoes
-bag of pasta shells

We should have enough food now, lol.

Once they left we headed to Hoover Dam
looking for a place to sled.
It seemed like all places were closed off so
headed over to Alum Creek park in Westerville.

Back home and grabbing a bite to eat.
Then need to head out to the thrift store
to find one jacket and a couple pairs of boots for the kids.
Will have to search high and low for cheap ones
due to not having much money at the moment.
But it's something that is needed and can't wait to have.
Oh crap, I just remembered that my one favorite
thrift store had a half price sale this week,
maybe yesterday.  I'll bet they are wiped out of stuff
but will go anyway to see.

4:00pm

Got my crock pots going.
Had to put my beans in the larger crock pots to get done
because the smaller crocks don't get up to very high temps.

In the crock pot buffet I have potatoes going
for some ham and potato soup
and some deer burger with a can of tomatoes
for the chili.

And I have yet a smaller crock going in my
living room with some scented wax, lol.

I love my crocks!

6:00pm

The thrift stores were a flop.
Didn't find boots or a jacket in the sizes I needed.
I did get-
1 can campbells cream of mushroom soup .50 cents
1 can chili beans with sauce .50 cents
1 bag of red kidney beans .90 cents
plastic Velveeta cheese container .90 cents
long heating pad $3.93

7:00pm

It's 7pm and both kids are asleep.
Something's wrong with this picture!

8:30pm

I got my chili and ham & potato soup done.
Most of the ham and beans is done.
I have a ham bone in a large crock with
leftover oranges, pineapple, water
and seasoning.  Will use some of this broth
in the ham & bean soup tomorrow to add more flavoring.
Loving my crock buffet.
I managed to get enough meals made
for the next three days in one day.
One step ahead of the game.

I'm tired now.  Maybe the kids are onto something
by going to bed early.

Yawnnn, I do have a new heating pad to try out :0)
