1-22-13

5:50am

Brrrr it's 8 degrees and feels like -10 degrees.
Channel 6 said we could see a snow storm
Thursday-Friday with 2-4 inches of snow.
Parts of Eerie, PA got 18-24 inches yesterday
from lake affect snow.   Yowza!
Hoping for no white outs like yesterday.
That 50 car pile up in Colerain TWP, OH
turned out to be an 83 car crash from
what I just saw on the news.

3:10pm

UPS just came.  I got a free 3.5 bag of
Hills cat food from Facebook worth about $12.
Gotta love those freebies.

I just got all the pork ribs shredded that was cooked
yesterday in the crock.  I removed any fat that had hardened
on top in the fridge overnight first.
More bbq sauce was added and I put it back
into the crock pot warmer on low.
Next will cut and put a double batch of potatoes into a pot
of water and boil them.  Half for some homemade
mashed potatoes tonight to put the bbq pork on
and the other half will be reserved to have with
deer tenderloin.

Here's my tip for the day,
make your own fabric softener for much cheaper
than store bought.

-2 cups of cheap hair conditioner in your favorite scent.
-3 cups distilled white vinegar.
(don't worry your clothes won't smell like vinegar
and plus the vinegar helps to keep your
washing machine clean!)
-6 cups water

Put conditioner and vinegar in microwave safe bowl
and microwave 2 minutes to make the mixing
process easier.  Stir with a whisk til smooth and creamy.
Pour mixture into a storage container such
as an old fabric softener bottle.  Slowly add water.
Makes about a gallon.

Use it like store bought fabric softener OR
soak a washcloth in the softener and allow it to dry
completely out.  Use it like a dryer sheet.
One washcloth will last for many, many loads of laundry.

5:15pm

15 degrees and feels like 0.
I'm ready for Spring.

Got supper ready for me and the kids.
Here is what I call Rib Buster
with the bbq pulled pork over mashed potatoes.

I called hubby since he wasn't home when he usually is.
He's still at work dealing with a building with
frozen water lines.  Some dumb ass turned his heat
off in his apartment when he went away and caused
pretty much the whole buildings water lines to freeze up.
Hubby said he'd be awhile.
I told ya, you could post 100 warning signs
all over the property to NOT turn off your heat
and let your faucets drip  to avoid freeze ups
in extreme cold weather
and they don't pay attention to them!
It's just common sense.
I remember 30+ years ago doing this in our apartment.
And it's not just apartments it's houses as well.
Where were these people raised, Florida?
You've got to know what to expect for Ohio weather
to know what to prepare for, how to dress and how to drive, DUH!

Last night hubby got called out

at 11:30pm.  Residents locked themselves out of their
apartment.  They were returning from a Blue Jackets
game and had been drinking and not thinking wisely.
Hubby was on the
property in 15-20 minutes.  They were impatient
and broke a window to get inside before he arrived.
I mean come on now it was only a 15 minute wait.
Guess who's getting a repair bill?

8:15pm

Hubby is still at work.
So far 4 hours plus for overtime for today,
an hour and a half for yesterday.
Now I worry that he's thrown his back out
between moving appliances and filling
the spreader on the plow truck with salt.
This place needs to make the younger workers
help with the heavy lifting around there
to prevent injuries.  We've gone through this
before with hubby's back where he had
to take 1-2 weeks off work.

I've been channel surfing on tv this evening

and not finding much of any interest on to watch.
I need to feed the old brain and try to learn something new
so turned to watching a video about 911.
What have I learned from this video?
That sometimes we need to turn off the news
whether it be local or international because
they lead people to believe things that are not really
happening around us.  Well yeah the stories are
happening but the truth behind most of them
are up in the air for me anymore after watching
this hour and a half video.
Now I have watched about every show there
is on tv about 9/11 except this one.
It is a real eye opener and makes you
really wonder what is taking place in the
world around you.
