9-10-13

12:45pm

When needing extra money we do side work
and scrap metal.  Hubby's friend's dryer quit heating
and hubby told him that I could figure out what is wrong with it...
do what?!  LOL.  I've only repaired our dryer, that doesn't
make me the Maytag repair woman!
Scary thought working on someone else's dryer.
Dryers should be fairly simple to figure out
and work on when compared to a washing machine though.
So here's what I'll do to fix it...
Using a OHM meter at the lowest setting,
disconnect the wires to the thermal fuse which has 2 wires.
If it reads less than 01 ohm's then it's good.
Disconnect wires on the thermostat which might
have 4 wires.  Pull off the 2 larger wires and test.
01 or less it's good.
Test the other 2 smaller wires on the thermostat,
should read around 6.9 ohms for it to be good.
Then test the heating element.
.9 to .10 ohms is good.

Clean the dryer hose or replace with a new one,
Usually if you replace your heating element
you should go ahead and replace your
thermal fuse and high limit thermostat.
That should fix it.
Total cost for parts should be about $40 to $60.

I feel so sorry for the kids on days like these
going to school with NO air condition.
Right now it is 95 degrees outside
with a heat index of 101 degrees!

We have a heat advisory til 7pm
and a pollen alert.

2:55pm

Had the kids some cold bottled water ready
for them when I picked them up from the bus stop.
They told me that their teachers would not
let them go to the drinking fountains and
that most teachers did not have fans in their
classrooms.  If there is a heat index of
101 degrees outside, how hot do you suppose it is
in a school building with no air condition?

I had some yogurt tubes I got marked down
at Kroger kinda like Go-Gurt.
I put them in the freezer as a frozen yogurt
snack for the kids after school.

4:05pm

Getting ready to start supper soon which will
require use of the oven, ugh.
