2-15-13

8:15am
Today I am making beef (deer) pot pies.
I didn't have any leftover gravy from yesterday
so will have to make my own from scratch
with no pan drippings.
4 teaspoons beef bouillon
1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 cups warm water
Add everything above to the warm water,
stir and allow to dissolve.
This will be your beef broth.
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
2 cups beef broth
salt & pepper to taste
Melt butter over low heat.
Remove from heat and whisk in flour, mix well.
Return to heat, stirring constantly.
Add beef broth and continue stirring with whisk
til gravy begins to boil.
Add salt and pepper.
Continue to cook til desired consistency.
Add in cut up beef (deer roast),
carrots & potatoes.
I then plan to use this
for the pot pie crust.
Readers suggest using a little less salt
than the recipe calls for.
3:00pm
I got my Medical Alert Restroom Access card today.
If you have Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis
it is state law in 12 states including Ohio (called Ally's Law)
to allow customers
the use of employee only restrooms in stores
that otherwise don't have public restrooms.
If you have this disease you can sign
up for a free restroom card pass HERE.

 5:30pm

Hubby said gas jumped to $3.85 a gallon.
I predict over $4.00 this Summer,
maybe even sooner at this rate!

Had pot pies for supper then went over to
hubby's work.  He found like 4 packages of
shredded cheese in an apartment fridge
and forgot them at work.  He also found
a couple bottles of dish soap.
Free is good!   Every little bit helps around here
no matter how small it may seem.
Even if it is tax refund time we still carry out
our daily lives like usual.  Might have an
occasional splurge here and there.  Some people
go crazy with tax refunds and that money is gone
in the blink of an eye.  Our tax refund has to stretch
out throughout the rest of the year.
Hubby, even though he doesn't have to,
is working tomorrow for a few hours.
Overtime isn't offered all the time so why
not get in on it while you can.
