8:30am
Hubby returned to work today.
I hope he doesn't over do it.
I got 34 no bake oatmeal cookies made.
I'm not sure if I've ever made these before
but they bring back childhood memories.
I remember school serving them with their lunches.
I sprayed mini muffin tins with cooking
spray and spooned the mixture in there.
I'm letting them cool then will put in the freezer
til hardened. Once hard then I'll pop out of the
muffin tin, put in freezer zip bags and back
in the freezer they'll go til time to make
cookie trays for hubby's work, neighbors and friends.
A couple months back at hubby's work
in a vacant apartment I found 5 pounds of oatmeal for free.
I'm pretty sure I also found the cocoa as well.
I've been finding ways of using this oatmeal
for meatloaves, meatballs and baking.
Gotta think cheap when making Christmas baked goods
and use what I have on hand.
I still feel so tired and have no energy.
Last night I went to bed at 6:30pm!
At least I got to sleep in an extra hour this morning
til 6:30am. The kids don't have school today.
I don't ever remember not having school
in the middle of the week!
11:00am
Hubby just called. He got all his health insurance
turned in for work. You had to tell them
what insurance and options you wanted
or you risk the chance of being dropped
even if you kept the same thing as last year.
Good ole Obamacare.
It's going to cost us $358 a pay or
$716 a month, ughhhh!
That included health, dental, vision,
life insurance for everyone and short term disability
is something new we took out for hubby for next year
considering his health. It includes 60% of pay
available after 3 weeks of being off.
Something is better than nothing!
Plus he has 401K. After that there's not much leftover.
The insurance copays, deductibles, prescriptions, etc
all went up as well. So even though you have insurance
you still cannot afford to get sick.
I got supper pretty much done and
in the crock pot for the next 6 hours.
Just another one of my recipes I created with what
I had at hand, Italian Sausage Ravioli.
I started with a package of marked down Italian sausage,
cut it up and fried in Italian dressing, then drained.
Next I made up 3 batches of homemade noodle dough.
I'd take about a tablespoon of dough, roll it out,
put a piece of sausage on it, then fold over the dough,
pinch around the edges and trim any excess with scissors
and then boil in a large pot.
In the crock I added a jar of spaghetti sauce,
can of diced tomatoes with liquid and a little splenda
then tossed in the ravioli.
Will serve with cheese on top and bread and butter.
3:55pm
I laid down from 12:30 to 3:00pm.
I've told y'all I've been feeling so tired still,
my stomach bloats when I eat or drink
and feel my body throbbing all over.
Sometimes I feel the food burning in my stomach when I eat.
I plan to make a follow up visit with my GI tomorrow
now that everything is somewhat settling down
around the home front.
Other than getting my poo back to what I call normal,
my blood pressure and potassium back to normal
because they said it was very low,
and my painful stomach spasms to stop, everything
else is pretty much the same.
I still do not feel right even after taking all the meds
they gave me in the hospital like numerous
antibiotics and steroids going 24-7.
I had another med called Cipro that I cannot do.
I told them it irritated my stomach that I could not take it
by mouth in the past because it gave me stomach pains.
They tried to give it to me in my IV thinking it
would bipass my stomach irritation.
The moment they started shooting it in my arm
so much pain and redness started going up my arm.
I bawled it felt like someone had hit my arm
with a hammer. Then my forearm started turning
red. They stopped it immediately and then put a red
tag around my wrist to tell everyone I was
allergic to it!
I don't know what doc expects me to do
for other treatments that I cannot afford.
Our insurance company has different levels
of medicines that range from tier 1 to tier 3 or 4 being the highest
of costs. My meds are in the tier 3 range.
So unless there are assistance programs through
pharmeceutical companies to assist those
who cannot afford their medicines
I don't know what else to do.
I don't think people really understood the seriousness
of this disease til I went in the hospital.
I do notice hubby takes me more seriously now
when I complain of an ache or pain.
Before he'd ask me if I was taking my medicines.
He must think that it makes everything ok
like his medicines for his diabetes.
This disease is different.
You can take all your medicines and are pretty
much guaranteed to still get sick,
go through flare ups and at the worst,
have operations to start removing your bowel and/or colon.
When they do that it does not cure you, there is no cure.
It only removes diseased sections that are
heavily damaged causing blockages and what not
sometimes having to wear an outside poo pouch.
Sorry, I get a little depressed at times
dealing with this crap not knowing what to do,
not feeling good and have things to do
and not knowing how to pay for things.
5:40pm
Hubby came home from work complaining
his lower back is hurting. He's tolerating the best he can.
I've got him doing some back exercises and his
exercise ball to help stretch his back out.
Doc says he has all over body arthritis and has
little cushion between his bones.
He's on call the rest of this week
and all of next week.
I'll try to help him in the evenings the best I can.
Now I'm looking into trying to find someone to
fix my brake lights on the truck.
I installed a new brake light switch
but the lights only work when they want to
or if you press down really hard.
We really need this truck to drive with the
4x4 over the Winter months.
The only option here I see is to find someone
on the side who will do it for a reasonable
price or get a credit card through Goodyear (gritting teeth
just thinking about that!) and have them fix it.
We called Goodyear to get a price quote
and they said we'd have to bring the truck in
for a diagnostic first at $45. Sigh.
I can't win and people wonder
why I'm feeling the way I do.
Getting depressed over the sickness in this house
and not having enough money to keep up with everything.
:0(
My blog is a place where I can vent and write out
my thoughts about everything.
It helps some.
Cheaper than a therapist, lol.
8:05pm
Me and hubby went over to Kroger to pick up
some milk and pop. They still had some Halloween
things marked down 75% off.
I snatched up a bunch of large bags of candy
for less than a buck a piece.
The candy corn was .37 cents a bag.
Here was my thinking with this candy...
I can put some pieces of it back for stocking stuffers
and some I can use crushed up in cookies.
Chocolate chips can get expensive at $2 to $3 a bag.
Why not create cookies with marked down Halloween candy,
it's chocolate right?
Did you know you can make homemade Butterfinger candy
with candy corn?
That's one reason I bought 4 bags.
I've been having a hard time finding just regular candy corn
marked down at stores and when I saw these
I snatched them up.
